Experiences of a 74 year old patient with knee osteoarthritis, treated with a knee replacement.
I am 74 years old, and have had osteo-arthritis for the last 20 years in both knees. I am very active, if I may say so myself. The pain increased and seriously limited my activities. I discussed my situation in a reassuring conversation with dr Janssen. I received my total knee on March 28, 2011. The guidelines provided by the hospital are excellent. It gave answers to all my questions. The entire course of the surgery, before and after, are well illustrated.
I have warm memories of my short stay in the Máxima Medical Center in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. I was treated as if I was the only patient present.
It is now 3 months after the surgery. I can walk without pain, I can ride my bike and the knee feels as being part of me, wonderful! Dr Janssen did excellent surgery and made my leg straight again. I must say that determination and strict discipline are important for the necessary exercise program. I need to have my other knee done as well. I have full confidence in dr Janssen for my next surgery.
